How could there be such
completely different dimensions to a single man?? Khushi wondered
looking at him...that he loved his sister, there was no doubt, loved
her tremendously, she had got that the instant she had seen him
rushing up the stairs at RM...no doubt, the news must have broken him
and his family...
The news had become a common one
by now, the break up of his sister with her husband...she would have
thought there are always two sides to a story but even a single meet
with Anjali had made her certain as to who must have been at fault...
should she? Should she not? Her
mind debated on the article piece as she looked on...
Arnav opened his eyes slowly and
their eyes met...
He had some time believing she
actually stood before him...he got sure after a few seconds..
and Arnav quite successfully made
use of his chameleon talents to pull up the ASR mask on immediately..
Both had no idea what to
say...Khushi decided to just ignore him and walk past...
"I heard you brought di home"
he interrupted as soon as she
began to walk..
Khushi looked at his face gain
and waited...but no thank you followed... it seemed even
acknowledging your favour was a big thing for Arnav Singh
Raizada...
He tried saying it but not hard
enough and then dropped the idea. How could he thank a girl who had
called him lunatic and stuff no other soul would dare uttering to him
straight to his face...
"I
see" was her laconic response...then she proceeded walking past
him..
he fumed...she did it again..once
more she had talked to him as bluntly as she could...
"Remember
one thing by the way..." he interrupted and she halted... "I am
used to reading rubbish about me in the papers, getting married, not getting
married, sister, brother, what not..your article is not going to kill
me..write any damn thing you want..let's see 'the power of your pen'
"
his voice dripped with sarcasm in those last few words..
Khushi stood staring straight
into his eyes for a moment, then said...
"This
is meant for the papers tomorrow...but I guess being Arnav Singh
Raizada has its own advantages, you get an early delivery.."
saying
this she opened the bag she had been holding, rummaged for a while ,
then taking out a sheet of paper thrust it into his hands..
"happy
reading Mr. Raizada.."
she
turned to go , but halted and turned back again..
"by
the way, please get over this delusion that the world revolves around
your marriage..you bring it up in every conversation you know.."
Arnav
stood staring at the piece of paper which had been thrust into his
hands, the paper crumpled as his grip on it suddenly became fierce
and teeth set upon teeth grinding each other, then looked up at her..
then
his gaze wandered down a bit and eyes widened..
Khushi
as expected, was startled at this reaction and followed his gaze to
her dress...
"why
are you- OH MY GOD!!!"
she
exclaimed as she saw the state of her dress...the heat had not been
too kind on the icecream she had been holding and the molten liquid
had made its way out of the leaking packet and onto her dress...
"disgusting!!"
she said trying to wipe her dress with one hand, holding the ice
cream with the other, while she gave her head frequent jerks to stop
the hair from covering her eyes..
still
busy with the adjustments, she looked again at him...on whose face a
terribly amused smirk had taken place...he hadn't realized it
himself, but it had come involuntarily...
the
closest in days he had come to being amused...
she
quickly straightened, adjusted her hair once more..
"I-I'll
be going now.."
he
just stood looking...
she
edged past him to the right and made her way to her house..
and
he suddenly felt like going home after all...
"Oh
great Khushi! We never knew you were wearing the ice cream home.."
"haaa.haaa.haaa
not funny"
"not
intended to be..what exactly took you so long?"
"oh
I was just trying to apply it on my dress.."
"ooo..bad
mood...you saw who/what/when/where/"
"jiji
this cement pile is following me"
"you
met Arn-"
"cement
pile" she corrected..
"okay
fine! Where did you meet your cement pile?"
"not
my cement pile"
"KHUSHI
WILL YOU CUT IT OUT ?"
Shutting
his laptop, he glanced at his watch once again..it was late.. he had
better go to bed now..
he
clicked the bedside lights off and adjusted his head on the pillow..
the
light from the reflection of water inside his pool shone on the glass
partitions..
his
mind recollected the events of the day... his sister..no..he shook it
away from his mind..later..he'd think about it later..or it would
make him mad..
Khushi Kumari Gupta, Indian Times...
Two
images floated in his mind...one of a girl , shaking a pen before his
face calling him a lunatic straight to his face..
the
other wiping off ice cream from her dress, looking the epitome of
cuteness...
that
girl had some nerves...
she
had better be wise enough not to use them on him..
she
had helped his sister, yes that was still there..
He
shook his head with a jerk..why the hell was he wasting his time on
her when-
"i
guess being Arnav Singh Raizada has its own advantages, you get an
early delivery.." a voice sounded within his head..
oh..how
did he forget..
He
suddenly sat upright on the bed and switched the bedside light on...
then
walked to his wardrobe and put his hands inside the pockets of the
coat he had been wearing in the evening..
the
paper crumpled under his grip..
walking
back to the bed , he leaned on the bed post again and turned the
paper in the direction of the light..
it
remained quiet around for some time..
the
sound of the wall clock could be heard in the silence of a quarter to
2:00 in the morning...
before
Arnav Singh Raizada sat up from his bed and ran his hands through his
hair..
"dammit!"
he mumbled..
this
just could not come in the papers...
it
just so couldn't...
and
fifteen minutes later Arnav Singh Raizada was racking his mind to
find a way to contact
Khushi Kumari Gupta , Indian Times...
